FROM THE ROAD

Bearfoot Headed West Part Deux

Monday, July 27, 2009 at 12:00:00 AM

…..We arrived in Seattle late in the night on July 14th.   One of my favorite cities on the West Coast. A friend of the bands offered to host us there for the few days we had off before our show in Kent, WA. We had a lovely stay. We spent most of one day on the big front porch, working on new tune ideas. Fueled by the fresh ocean air, and our host’s incredible pie baking skills, we finished a song, and went away feeling happy and very inspired.

Our show in Kent was an outside gig by the lake. We played to a very appreciative, very diverse crowd. It was a great show. Kate even saw her Cousin Linda and Tim… They made us cookies!  Thanks! We love cookies!

We didn't sleep that night and headed to the airport, red eye style, Cali bound.

We had several sets to play the next day in Grass Valley, at California World Fest. Very funky festival. Good vibes all round.  So much great, eclectic music to listen and dance to! Los Lobos, Del Castillo, the Indigo Girls, among others… Jason even jammed with some Reggae guys! Who knew? It felt good to be in Cali again. Love Cali!

And finally, as the last part of our West tour, we headed to Rockygrass for Academy and Festival.  Saw many of our friends and family from Alaska, as well as our friends from the Road: Kruger Brothers, Del Boys, Bryn, Casey, Mark Shatz, and others. The Salmon Jam was very successful! Thanks to all those who helped!   What a wonderful festival!  Great music, great food, great tubing,,,, We all danced to Red Knuckles and the Trailblazers under the moonlight. And the  annual bacon bomb closed the weekend with a bang!  It was hard to say goodbye.

Hope to see you at Podunk Bluegrass Festival and MusikFest!
